Can adenosine taken as a supplement induce sleep? Posted: 19 Apr 2022 01:54 PM PDT The two hormones melatonine and adenosine are responsible for regulating our sleep cycle. Melatonin as a supplement is already available to induce a response in the body that it is time to sleep, while adenosine levels rise in the body the longer we are awake to induce pressure to sleep. Adenosine competes with caffeine for the receptors - could adenosine as a supplement be used to induce the readiness to sleep, when we haven't been awake long enough for example? [link] [comments] |
